Livestock walls without electricity.

I took my dry stone wall class on a field trip yesterday to gather more stone at Godfrey Tyler's farm just outside Haliburton. He has a lot of walls, some good, but mostly in various stages of disrepair. We gathered from the stone piles dotted around the property, not the walls.

Godfrey manages to survive as a farmer despite the fact that small Canadian farms are so disadvantaged. There is no money in family farming, especially on a small scale. His main income is lumber. He has some cattle and sheep too.

Godfrey loves his dry stone walls. The walls help contain the livestock. He explained that when the electricity goes off the walls still work.
