Dry Stone Walling Festival updates

This is one of two very large carved signs that were over the doors of the original commercial stone buildings which stood on the property of what is now this year's dry stone festival site in Alton Ontario. They had been salvaged, forgotten and then rediscovered in a field in Caledon Village and have now been incorporated into the design of the north wall which is being built this week by volunteers with the newly formed Dry Stone Walling Association of Canada prior to the actual festival event  .

Here is the other one.  Nine feet long !

Does anyone have any information about these two companies?

  1. I`m the fella who found the three stones from the old carriage works building in Alton, and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought you wonderful people would have treated them with such passion and create the most incredible setting for them back where they belong in Alton.I,m still trying to finish the wall at the opposite end of the site and having fun trying to blend two different styles together. Many people have stopped by to comment on the moongate etc etc,and seeing as so far i`ve only actually laid about 6 or 7 stones so far i`m feeling terribly guilty taking the full credit for the features. But I`m sure Eric ,Norm and Neil etc won`t mind. Ha HA. Regards Barry.
