Did you find it easier to erect the first structure with all the various learning curves, or the second whereby you had the 'formula' and 'model' to follow but without the freedom of creating something original, and with the restrictions of having to follow an existing 'pattern?
Good question. I think it is difficult to say which was easier. The first wall presented a lot of challenges which by the time we got to the second one we were confident and experienced enough to tackle. Coming back and duplicating the first wall was not as difficult a challenge and definitely more satisfying.
I am a person who builds dry stone walls and bridges and thinks a lot about how to get other people discovering what a satisfying occupation it can be. I am founder and president of Dry Stone Walling Across Canada www.dswa.ca and an avid supporter of the idea of sharing knowledge freely and learning from others.
Spectacular! Must have been tricky to exactly mirror the original? Lots of eyeballing?
